This is a really great spread couteousy of Sammie’s In the Cards blog. It’s a great idea and a great visual concept, and it’s very helpful for times in your life when you’re not really sure where you are, which is consquently my current circumstance.
The cards are layed out in an “X” with your significator in the central position. I selected the lady (using the Lenormand since we have been understanding each other for the time being, lol). You can find far better instructions here. This was my draw:
House Cross
Lady
Paths Lily
Now, to get your message, read the diagnol lines starting with the cross first.
Line 1: Cross, Lady, Paths – The cross can mean a few things, it can be about burdens and difficulties(carrying a cross), or about fate. It’s partner in the line is the paths. Paths are about decisions and choices. The can also represent descriptives such as nature or even taking a walk but I doubt that’s the message here.
Line 2: House, Lady, Lily – What I find funny about this line is its apparent redundancy – Family, Lady, Family! LOL, anyway as you may guess both the house and lily can represent family. The house can be a physical residence (which is its most common interpretation) – your current home, a future home or your childhood home. The lily is a broader catch-all type of card. It can mean family, or sexuality. It can be a man (king of spades) and can represent a lover (the sexual reference of the lily + the king of spades). It can also suggest the winter.
So where am I? Well…
The cross is above me which I find to be very appropriate (did I mention what a great spread this is?) because it represents what has been on my mind. I have been feeling rather encumbered as of late, and these feelings have led me to a crossroads (the path) where I really have to make a decision. My family has also being weighing in (as family has a way of doing) and it is my primary concern. That may explain the double reference. It could also be that I should refrain from making a decision until the winter passes. Possibly, the burdens I have been feeling will be behind me at that point.
If only my camera were working!
I used the White Owl lenormand for this throw, but it’s very similar to the blue owl and the directions of persons and other objects are preserved.
The Lady is facing the direction of the house and the paths. So to me, the message is to leave the decision open for now and wait for a future date. The Lady’s back is to the cross and the lily, which leads me to believe that what I am feeling now will be behind me once the winter comes.
That’s not a gigantic surprise, because like many people I tend to feel rather blah during this time period – the sun is coming up later and going down sooner, and the trees are begining to shed their leaves and take winter’s nap. The world looks barren and is darker and colder. It’s just part of the cycle of the seasons, and part of life. Spring eventually comes and everything is “reborn” again.
It makes me think of a saying: If there was no sadness, how would we recognize joy?
So for now I shall move forward and onward on my current path… now if only the Lenormand could reveal the number of boxes I will be forced to wrap during the upcoming holiday season, lol…

Hi Contessa,
Perhaps, the House, Lady, Lily diagonal is showing that you are at a place that your home is serene. The Cross, Lady, Crossroads might be saying that you are at a spot in life where you are making a conscious decision to take fate in your own hands and decide to have that serene home life you want.
It makes me so happy when people try this spread! It really does seem to work well. I’ve tried it with several decks and it works with most of them.
