I thought I might give this a go. Please let me know what you think.
Special thanks are extended to my “Guinea Pig” for this experiment. I could not do what I do without your unwavering support of my efforts…
In this reading I am looking for the fox. The querent was concerned that her lover was hiding something from her. I shuffle and cut the cards.
Dealing from the top of my pack, I will lay rows of five cards until I locate the fox. In this case the reading was very neat. The Man fell in line with the fox which confirmed that this person was in fact hiding something.
Now I can begin interpretation of the cards. To me the Lily is very significant here because it can reperesent a lover (though usually male). With the presence of the fish my impression is that this is more of an emotional affair and that it did not move forward into the physical realm. There are also no other supporting person cards. The Querent’s lover may have been at a crossroads and may have even wanted to move forward, but the fox is blocking this path, signifying that the Man realizes that it would be the wrong decision to make.
I received an inquiry from a lady who was curious to know if she would marry and have a family. Here is the throw:

So, the short answer is “yes”
. The Key is my “yes” card. Now, we’ll dig a little deeper.
The card which reflects the key would be the lilies. The lily often represents family matters, or a family man. Either way you play it, it works very nicely. If we move inward, we have the letter – messages in writing. I also would wonder if the letter was an offer in this case – if we view marriage for what it is on a very base level, it is a contract – a legal arrangement if you will. While this is not very romantic (my apologies, Ms. C) it still is confirmation to me that this wish will be realized. The letter comes to the lady – if you observe the imagery, right side of the envelope is elevated and looks easier for her to lift than the opposite and lowered side. The offer is made to her. The paths follow – Ms. C. has a choice – one road leads to this offer and the other to her. It’s possible that there is another relationship that Ms. C is more inclined towards, but this is the fellow who will propose first. She may need to solve some dilemma with the other fellow (Keys also open things – perhaps Ms. C is thinking about the correct one to open the second fellow’s heart to commitment?). I would set timing for the first offer in the winter months (lily again) perhaps the month of February. Were she to accept, I like that this fellow is the Lily – to me this would make him a good family man.
Thank you to Ms. C for her question -
Best of everything!

Many years back when I was trying to figure out what the Gipsy Zigeuner was, I happened upon the Art Deco cards. They’re very similar to the Gipsy deck, but with 52 cards as opposed to 36. I’ve been playing with them recently and having some pretty decent success. Here was my throw today:

Profit, Fidelity, Sweetheart, Misfortune, Fortune
It’s an interesting throw, and I do like it. The misfortune/fortune combination is intriguing as is the profit/fidelity set.
The sweetheart (me in this case) is central. Everything branches out from her. Something that seemed like a bad thing was actually good. It’s like how being five minutes late leaving home turns out to be a blessing in disguise because you miss being involved in a bad accident. Being late is never a fortunate event, but it can be if it prevents something worse.
This energy is behind the sweetheart (to her back) so I feel that this influence has already passed.
The energy in front of me is more interesting. Profit shows us that sometimes a gamble will pay off. The man in profit is retuning a bet to the book maker to collect. Fidelity is a card of loyalty and trust – trust that a gamble will pay off. Or, an alternative way of reading this is to trust that an uncertain situation will yield a consistant benefit. That was very nice to see. I have been back to reading on the phone over at Keen.com, and I have actually been getting some calls. What’s more is that people have been happy with their readings, and I am seeing some repeat clients.
To bring this full circle – I started doing my phone readings but went on an extended hiatus. I was very concerned about the quality of my readings and was having difficulty taking money for them. I started to log back on again more out of necessity than anything, and lo and behold one of my callers contacted me and apologized for doubting my reading from the months and months before. I was totally shocked and grateful to know that I had actually done this person some good though they did not believe what I said at the time. So something born out of misfortune has changed my luck for the good. Walking away from reading seemed like a defeat, but it was a blessing. I was able to read for family and friends and renew my confidence. And I enjoy my readings much more than I used to, which is so important. My coming back and giving it another go was a chance that has paid off, and I can have faith that it will continue to go well for the time being.

I haven’t played much with my Zigeuner deck lately so I decided today might be a good day. I did my usual line of five. I decided to look for the Sweetheart. My question was “What is coming to me?”

Sadness – Thief – Sweetheart – Lover – Merriment
I like this reading a lot – not only because it has a nice message but because it’s a simple “what you see is what you get” situation. The short and sweet of it? Sadness will be stolen away and I might actually be able to have a bit of fun with my husband. Or, we will have cause to celebrate about something. Either way, it is a beautiful message!
While speaking with a friend, I thought it might be interesting to look at the Eclipse. On a whim, I asked “Should I read for the Sun or Moon first?”. It was of no matter to my friend so I choose the moon (being we’re both women). What happened next was very interesting.
I typically throw in lines of five. I am not sure why, but I like five. It’s not too many cards but not too few. When I threw my first line (because when I choose something specific, I will throw lines of five until the card I am seeking appears in a line) the first card out was the Sun. So I chuckled to myself because I was initially going to choose the Sun. I continued to throw my five cards and then started the next line. The first card of the second line? The Moon. The eclipse occurs when the Moon moves in front of the Sun.
Here is the full throw:

Because of the way that the cards came up, I decided to read it as layers. I am leaving out cards 1 & 5 because they are (to me) the eclipse. So, what will this energy bring?
Garden + Key : A gathering will certainly take place. This to me is a no-brainer. It could also be “Meetings are successful”.
Lily + Clouds : What I find interesting about these two cards are the two Kings. The Lily is the “Good” king – the lily is generally representative of family matters, harmony and social welfare. The Clouds – the “Bad” king are about setbacks and storminess – as a person this king is your “Grumpy” man. Think unpleasant Ex. What I dislike about this is that the Bad king sits on top of the Good king. So it appears that harmony will be disrupted. At least the clouds are a passing influence.
Ring + Dog : This makes me think “obligations will be kept” or a promise fulfilled. The clouds will still have an influence here – the dark side of the clouds face the dog. Good people may feel like they’re being dogged. Aggravation will come with the responsibilities to be kept.
Bear + Tree : There are a lot of ways to view this combination, but I see it as someone or something seeing a gradual increase of power or influence. The Bear is a very powerful animal and one which demands your attention and respect. The tree implys the growth here – slow and steady. A Maturation of sorts. Once the energy of the clouds dissipate, the energy of the Dog will take over so I see the growth and power to be more positive.
There’s also the strong possibility that there’s a message here for me personally as in two days time we will be traveling to a family reunion (garden + lily). There will most certainly be alcohol involved which makes the clouds + lily a funny combination (a family of social drinkers, which they are). It may be trying (clouds again) but in the end it appears that relationships will grow and strengthen (ring +dog & bear + tree).
Thoughts? :)

I decided to look for myself (the lady) in the deck and see what came up around me. I’ve been rather stumped lately – I don’t like not asking a question, but I don’t like to ask a question at the same time. This felt like a safe option. The above is my throw – I threw five cards until the lady appeared in the line of five. There are six cards above, and there is a reason for this…
Sometimes when I read, instead of getting very in depth with combinations I like to read the line of cards like a sentence. It may seem silly, but sometimes that is really all one needs. I often find that the message I need becomes obstructed by my delving too deeply into something that isn’t meant to be so carefully disected.
Key – Mountain – Boquet – Lady – Storks
What does this mean? Well….
The key is never much of a mystery when I read. It means “yes”. It means “success” . The key is something that “is” without any shred of uncertainty.
Next in line is the Mountain. This is an obstruction, a block, barrier or challenge. We can climb a mountain, but it’s no easy task.
So, thus far our sentence reads “Definite (key) block/obstruction (mountain)”
Next is the bouquet. For some odd reason, this card always puzzles me. The bouquet is generally something pleasant. It can represent a younger woman (and I have had this happen). It can also be a gift – think of flowers from a lover or even from a child who hasn’t access to money but can still offer a beautiful sentiment: “I am thinking about you”. It can be a surprise, or it can be a visit. It can be the astrological sign of Libra. I’m not entirely sure what meaning to chose, but I think in this case (odd as it seems) it doesn’t matter much.
“Definate (key) block/obstruction (mountain), something pleasant (bouquet)”
Next in the line is the lady, which would be me. What I find to be highly ironic is that the lady is facing the definite block of something pleasant. I have been very caught up in focusing on things that are bothering me as of late. Just that information alone is enough to stop and feel confident that I have been offered a very valuable message (and one that a friend offered me not too long ago that I foolishly disregarded). Trapping ones self in a negative message is a very dangerous game. The cards are even bringing this to my attention. What’s more, the pleasant things are right in front of me and unobstructed. Nothing is preventing me from reaching out to grab the bouquet…. except me. The lady even holds one that she seems to be oblivious to, and looks as if it could slip from her grasp.
“Definate (key) block/obstruction (mountain), something pleasant (bouquet), lady”
Next is the stork, and now I will explain why there is a sixth card. The stork is another one of those “what you see is what you get” kind of cards. The stork is about changes. As Chanah at Freaky Fortune Teller once wrote, “the stork brings”. The stork can potentially mean other things of course (context is important) but it’s not common. So if we look at the sentence again, it reads:
“Definate (key) block/obstruction (mountain), something pleasant (bouquet), lady, changes (stork)”
The change is behind me, so I don’t even see them happening – almost like the imaginary barrier to pleasant things. However, because I read these lines from left to right, the change is now and coming before me. ”What kind of change?”, I wondered. So I threw another card.
The Sun – energy, light and good fortune.
“Definate (key) block/obstruction (mountain), something pleasant (bouquet), lady, changes (stork), for the better (sun)”
The changes are coming, and they look like they’re pretty good
I am back.
So many thinks have happened since I stopped writing – I hadn’t stopped reading, but I hadn’t been enjoying it the way that I should have. I actually started to write on more than one occasion and then decided it just wasn’t time. So yesterday I asked “Should I return to writing about cards” and received a very positive response. And then my son awoke from his nap, LOL…
I decided today to ask about myself and my emotional condition. I don’t particularly like reading for myself. I often find it difficult to be objective. Part of my hiatus involved learning on an emotional level – learning to trust myself, and learning to let go of my pre-conceived ideas about people and situations around me. I, like many people tend to drag quite a bit of emotional baggage around, and it’s time to allow myself to leave it behind so I can grow as an individual again.
I have been growing in my cartomancy practice as a direct result of this, and being able to recognize the difference between picking up on a situation, and picking up the feelings around a situation. I think this is very important when you’re reading for others – it’s very easy to become influence by the person you’re reading. You may pick up on what THEY think is going to happen (especially if they themselves are emotional at the time you’re reading for them – something I do not recommend). It is what they feel is going to happen – sometimes they may be correct, but other times their hopes and fears are just that. Discernment becomes especially valuable in these instances.
Because I suffer periodically with melancholy I decided to ask about a particular situation that has been causing me some concern. I decided I would only throw three cards. I shuffled, cut and threw the first three cards at the top of my deck.

Key - Lady - Anchor
#33 The Key – I always view the key as an affirming card – it is my “Yes!” when I read, it’s also a card of success and successful undertakings. Keys also open doors of course, and lately I have felt somewhat locked in.
#29 – The Lady – represents myself. I always love when I throw a set of cards and my representative card appears in the center. To me that is a very good omen and gives me a sense that I have connected with my concern well.
#35 – The Anchor – I usually use the anchor to mean employment or work (I most often use Treppner’s interpretations) but I have found it very often to represent other things. It’s hard to explain how one makes that determination – it’s more of an instinctive feeling to me than anything else. I have had it come up in readings to mean a weight or burden, often imposed by people outside of the questioner. I have also read it to mean grounding in it’s most positive definition. It’s a secure feeling – the long hard journey is over, now is the time for both celebration and rest. You are at home once again.
I felt very pleased when I saw these three cards. The lady faces the key, so my focus will be on the positive aspect of the situation in question. I will be more focused on my success than being depressed. There may potentially be work involved (and I know for certain there will be) but I will be pleased with the fruit of my labors. I will feel more grounded and more at home. To me this throw is all about successful undertakings and positive outlooks.
What a wonderful gift for my return to blogging, eh?
I’ve been seeing some repetative themes again. I do so hate when that happens because I often misunderstand the message. I always find it quite difficult to read objectively for yourself.

We recently had a visitor who happens to be another family member (my husband’s side) and I think that is who the cards are speaking of. The first set of cards is the 2C, 10P and KnP. The 2C paired with the 10P can mean a family member, and the KnP would be that person. Since the knight is a pentacle, this would be an Earth sign (which is also accurate). Knights are generally younger men – in this instance it is a younger ACTING man.
The second set is the 7S, 7P and Justice. Oddly, I believe whatever the cards are warning me about will come to pass within a week’s time (the repetative sevens and aces make me think “7 days” or “1 Week”. This set is also central, so I believe that it’s an explaination of why we were visited.
More in a few…..
