I must apologize – I will be image free until I am able to figure out where the battery charger for my camera is.

I decided on a three card draw today.  I was fine until I threw the last card.  So here it goes…:

Blue 13 Angel of Summer

Blue 12 The Divine Horse

Red 7 The Whip

Blue pages are cards of benignancy, serenity and contructive endeavour.    Red pages are cards of adversity, trouble, severity and disappointments.

So I am going about my benign and serene business feeling constructive, only to get slammed with trouble and adversity that leaves me severly disappointed.  LOL.. on to the actual card meanings, shall we?

Position One is the premise – Angel of Summer.  This is a timing card (summer season) and is the card of success.

Position Two is the Problem or Situation – Divine Horse.  This is a protective card and relates to happiness at home and emotional safety.  Hmmm.. and then there was

Position Three is the result – The Whip.  This is about discipline and physical difficulties.  Ironically, it speaks of emotional UNhappiness.

*The Countess sighs deeply*

The other quality of the whip is struggle of attainment and karmic stregthening of character.  And sadly, this is where I am.

Initially I looked and felt saddened, however upon looking again I don’t feel as bad.  While what I am going through may indeed be a test (we all suffer through them in life – it is the nature of the beast if you will..) the message is that I am protected, something I have always felt strongly and have confirmation of here.  I can also take heart in that the premise (the summer) is almost over, and the premise is also success.  I can “pass” this test as I have many others in my life.  So while it appears foreboding on the surface, it’s actually quite comforting and appropriate for today.

Just because I can, (lol) I flipped the deck over to see the bottom card, and it was Yellow 14 – the Lord of Power, which is about concentraition and channeling of energy, which immediately left me thinking about something a good friend reminded me of today regarding the power of attraction.  It made me smile a little wider.  Apparently a little self-discipline (whip) will go a long way for me :)

I’ve been feeling rather down as of late.  Through a serious of events (most of which have highlighted the incredibly poor communication between myself and people in my life) I’ve suffered a few setbacks and minor losses.  I know full well that this is a temporary situation (I’ve gotten myself out of worse scrapes before) but it’s none the less left me feeling terribly vexed.  I decided a simple three card reading with the Pages of Shustah might be helpful.

While the Shustah does have the capacity to give concise answers, I tend to see it more like a cross between the Tarot and a deck of fortune telling cards.  There is a more meditative aspect to them.  Not that’s not to say that you can’t meditate on a Lenormand or Zigeuner throw – one can meditate on the pits in an eggshell if they so desire.  But I feel these days like my favorite decks are “too harsh” for how I feel today.

Without further adieu:

Green 14 -Red 6 - Blue 8

Green 14 -Red 6 - Blue 8

Card #1 is the Premise: Lord of Contemplation

The Lord of contemplation is all about thinking things through, examination of current circumstance.  I find this to be a very accurate depiction of my frame of mind as of late.  I have been trying to weigh the pros and cons of my current status and decide whether I should make a change.

Card #2 The problem or situation – the Closed Gate

The way is blocked (for now – the closed gate has a temporary energy..  see how flimsy the blockage is).  One should consider another way.  I think that has been a major part of my problem, and the next card illustrates what the benefits of changing both my thoughts and actions can bring.

Card #3: The result – The Celestial Bees

The main message of this card is about physical work, however there is much more.  Bees cannot survive alone.  They are part of a very intricate community where each is dependant on the other.  Each bee has a job and each job is important.  Through working together as a community, bees create and maintain a hive, produce honey, and care for the next generation.  They also benefit various plants, and trees by pollinating and thusly making it possibe for the next generation of another form of life to come forth.  Of course they benefit us humans – honey is quite delicious (in my opinion anyway) and by pollinating fruit trees and other food plants they help us to maintain our food supply.

OK – so that’s great.  What does it mean?  Well, for me it’s very simple.  I am a fiercely independant sort.  One of those people who will do it because other people won’t do it the way you do (and of course my way is really best in my mind).  Like I stated earlier – I had several things happen which caused me some grief because I depended on someone else to communicate with me and/or to hear my communication.

It seems that the message is not to give up on being part of a hive because of a few setbacks, because there is more benefit to being part of the group than to go it alone (Bees).  Instead, I should stop (gate)and think (Lord of contemplation).  Take time out and rest a little (gate+lord) and allow the group to help me.

We are off to see family and friends on Saturday and will be gone for shortly over a week.  Perhaps for once I will be able to enjoy a more restful vacation with my son and husband.  We all need a break once in a while…

Today I asked a question, specifically when we would hear about a new job for my husband.  Here is the draw:

red 5 - red 3 - green 8

red 5 - red 3 - green 8

The red cards in the Pages of Shustah are about adversity, trouble, severity and disappointments.  The green cards are about development, desire, growth and progress.

Red 5, The Black Cat – The card of alert attention.  Emotional threat, jealousy, treachery, danger.

Red 3, The Seperating Fence.  The card of severence.  Emotional seperation, release from a personal relationship.

Green 8, The Journey.  The card of progress.  A physical trip to another state or country.

The Black Cat has always looked to me like a wolverine.  Wolverines are fierce little creatures and can be deceptive as to how powerful they are because of their small size.  They have been known to go after bears to defend food and territory.  But I digress.  The message of the cat is to be alert to dangerous situations.  I found this to be interesting because of some of the issues my husband has been having of late with a client.

I was having some difficulty with the fence, so I consulted the very uplifting and informative blog of Ken Foorwhich is all about the Pages of Shustah. Now it makes more sense. The fence is diving two people, but it is a mesh fence. The people can still see and communicate with each other. So while we should be alert to potential problems (black cat) we should keep the lines of communication open, whilst maintaining seperation from our feelings on the matter.

The journey to me is the most interesting of the three cards. It is a card of progress, and specifically (according to the accompanying book) deals with long distance travel. So the turning point in our hunt will be associated with a long distance trip. We have one trip planned currently, but that doesn’t rule out my husband having to travel before then either – his business trips tend to be dropped on us last minute due to the nature of his job.

All in all I am very pleased with this reading. It’s very uplifting – yes we still have some challanges and barriers to overcome, but there is hope for progress. It almost makes my regular two day headache bearable, lol..

We begin with the Shustah:

Green 6 (pregnant mouse), Green 12 (Magical horse), Green 3 (Unicorn)

Green 6 (pregnant mouse), Green 12 (Magical horse), Green 3 (Unicorn)

First it is interesting to note all three cards are green.  Green in the pages of Shustah represents development, desire, growth and process.

The Pregnant mouse is the card of poverty.  It suggests a lack of necessities in living or infirmity.

The Magical Horse is the vehicle of expression.  It suggests physical speed and conflict in timing.

The Unicorn is the card of uncontrolled force.  It suggests physical energy and vital force.  It also suggests emotional sublimation.  Now, I am not entirely ashamed to admit that I looked up “sublimation”.  It means (in this context) modifying an impulse or natural expression to one that is more socially acceptable.

This makes me wonder if the message is attempting to be too forceful (with situations that are not responding the way we would like) at this time is unwise, and that it could ultimately leave us in worse shape than we currently are in (magical horse + mouse).  The wise course of action is to modify that behavior and practice patience – wait until the conflict in timing passes (unicorn + magical horse).  This sounds reasonable.

Five card Lenormand draw:

The ring - The whips - The moon - The lilly - The tower

The ring - The whips - The moon - The lilly - The tower

I can’t help but think we are still looking at the love affair that is secret and to be revealed.

The ring is all about parnerships – not always love relationships, but also business contracts.  The ring + the whips (or the birch) could be two contracts, but my initial impression was a heated discussion between a married couple.  When you add the moon to that equation, it’s a very emotional one at that.  The moon is also central here.  The moon could mean a woman, it could also mean acknowledgement.  If I factor in the lilly – could it be that the couple is planning to come clean about their affair (the lilly could represent sexuality or a lover.  The tower can indicate seperation.  If you look at the cards in succession, they almost tell a story.

A couple (the ring) takes a beating (whips) that is very emotional (moon) possibly at night? and the lovers (lily) are seperated – locked away in the tower.

I have to note here too that I have a good friend who reads tarot and asked her what she thought about my crazy (the lunatic moon – hahaha) readings.  Much to my surprise she got a lot of the same information, and helped clairfy some of mine in addition to filling in some blanks.  Now again, there is a possibility that there is something else here.

If I look again, it somewhat reinforces the message of the shustah deck.  In our forcefulness in trying to make a job “materialize” we might have almost beaten the magical horse to death and could have potentially wound up isolated and impoverished.  Our ideas about how this ”should” happen were not in line with the established norms (the unicorn).  If instead we wait a while (the lily could indicate winter months as well) we might have better fortune with my husband securing (ring – contracts) a job (the large institutional kind as indicated again by the tower).  He may even have more than one offer as indicated by the whips (which has been a recurring message as well).

I should mention at this juncture that I despise long waits…  ;)

I am going to see how this works for me.  I got the idea from Tarot Dame’s blog.  Instead of my 5 card draw, I am going to do a combined five card Lenormand draw with a three card Shustah draw in conjunction.  Here was what I came out with:

Sun, Cross, Garden, Anchor, Ring

Shustah: Death, Gemini, Destiny - Lenormand: Sun, Cross, Garden, Anchor, Ring

First the Pages of Shustah:

Red 1 (Death) is the card of endings (the angel of death is carrying a scythe).

Black 3 (Gemini) has a time frame of 5/20 – 6/20, and is a card of high energy, movement, adaptability and communication.

Black 13 (Destiny) is the potential self brought to manifestation.  Truly I have a very difficult time with this card and the book meaning.  It’s the second time I’ve drawn it for my blog.

So it sounds as if there will be an ending and rebirth that will happen rather quickly, however this is meant to happen so that personal growth can take place.  Or that’s my take…  Now on to M’mselle…

The sun could be indicitive of summertime.  It is also the card of great luck.  The cross speaks of challanges and destiny (interesting).  The garden (or park) could be a meeting or something in the public arena.  The anchor is work (your job) or could indicate stability.  The ring is a marriage, relationship or contract.  So far this is quite promising.  Now, for the second layer…

Sun + cross+ ring to me is a lucky contract or agreement and this is “meant to be”.  The cross + anchor solidifies this for me as it is about work and that destiny is at play.  The garden + cross again could be a funeral though the other meaning is an important (cross) event (garden).  Garden + anchor could indicate a job in the public.  The anchor + ring is an employment contract.

I have to admit that this is puzzling to me, but I began throwing similar cards last night and just decided that I was getting goofy and needed to go to bed.  These cards are very positive but I have a hard time comprehending what this could be about.  If I am to take both together, the Shustah reading would lead me to belive that this would potentially rock my world.  I guess I will wait and see.  Of course, any commentary is always appreciated…

I was so very pleased to receive my Shustah deck and cards in the mail today.  I like this deck and do feel it may be slightly easier to work with than the Lenormand for me.  Here was my draw:

Three Card for July 7, 2008

Three Card for July 7, 2008

From the Book:

Green # 10: Legal Papers, the card of written work.  Written communication regarding business.

Black # 13: Self pattern of the whole horoscope.  The card of destiny.  Intuitive right timing.

Yellow # 1: The Chalice.  Emotional pain.  The suffering of a new birth.

I find this to be very interesting.  The legal papers reminds me first of the title to a house and there appears to be what I see as a key on one of the papers that is missing it’s prongs.  The destiny card made me think of the Stars of the Lenormand – your hopes and dreams being fulfilled, wish upon a star, ect.  While the moon is also prominent it didn’t jump out as much.  Then there is the Chalice – the Ace of Cups of the tarot?  Your cup runneth over, strong emotions and the beginnings of love.  However, the book appears to indicate this is more the cup of Christ – not the “Holy Grail” per say, but the cup he asked God to take from him before he was taken away to be judged and ultimately crucified.

Oh dear, I certainly don’t wish to be crucified!  Though of course we don’t choose our own destiny.  And who knows what responsibilities will fall on my shoulders?

But there is a “silver lining” of sorts.  Through Christ’s death he was elevated to heaven to be with God, his father;  His suffering was great, but so what the reward.

As I write this I am very tired.  I have felt emotionally drained as of late and have become weary of the roller coaster we seem to be on.  So I hope that the message here is that ultimately all of this nonsense will end and their will be a wonderful conclusion of events.  We shall see….
