On the surface this looks like an awful throw, but is it really?
The Coffin The Scythe The Mice The Mountain The Heart

It looks like:

Endings, danger, losses, obstacles, strong feelings. If you bring in the card combinations though, it’s a totally different matter.

End to danger (coffin+scythe), cut losses (scythe+mice) obstacles erradicated (twice here – scythe+mountain, mice+mountain) blocked strong feelings (mountain+heart), transformation of strong feelings (coffin+heart)

Now one might consider blocked feelings to be negative HOWEVER sometimes in life it is vital to remove yourself from the feelings in a situation to re-examine it using the rational mind. So, it’s not always a bad thing. In fact it can be a very good thing.  Then we can think about how we feel and decide whether the feelings are in fact warranted.  I think the message is really quite lovely.

A lot of times, things that happen in life seem to be quite dreadful on the surface.  Once we muddle through and see our way clear, we realize that what happened needed to for whatever reason.  The end result is we learn a great lesson.  If not about the experience itself, we learn about ourselves.  Our deep feelings, the heart of who we are.  It is impossible to lie about yourself or your situation when faced with enormous crisis.  To do so would not serve our natural desire to self-preserve.  We are faced with our true character.  When the crisis ends, we can chose to stagnate and be blocked – lock our hearts away behind great mountains.  OR, we can become transformed.  We can hack away at the things that steal our lives from us and hinder our progress and move closer towards the people, things and situations that we want.  Good can come from bad.

I decided to return to the Lenormand today and my usual five card spread.

We have the scythe in an interesting position.  The scythe generally is a “danger” card, but it also has a positive aspect.  You may note that it is resting on what appears to be bundles of wheat.  The wheat has been harvested by the scythe, so this card isn’t always negative.  I initally wondered if our trip was going to be cancelled, but given that the cards are aspected more along the lines of business (the fish is generally a money card, the ship can also pertain to business and not simply travel and the bear also can be representative of a business man or official person) I would think it is more in that realm.

Since the fish card is behind the scythe (the sharp pointed end is facing away) it is possible that either we will have a sudden financial windfall or that money troubles are behind us.  The scythe + ship could indicate sudden travel, or a sudden business decision.  The bear and scythe could be telling me that someone’s boss is not safe or their position is in jeopardy.  Combine the ship and bear, and we have another potential financial windfall suggestion, or possibly a large business dealing.  The bear + cross indicates an important man or wealthy man.  I’m not really clear on the fish and the cross combination, it makes me think of money going to or coming from a religious institution.  I guess I’ll have to wait and see what comes of this.

I checked the bottom of the deck, just because I was curious and lo and behold, there was the coffin once again.

The Book, The Scythe, The Tree, The Fox, The Coffin

The Book, The Scythe, The Tree, The Fox, The Coffin

A shocking secret will be revealed, the end of an intrigue.  The tree can indicate a long time (trees grow slowly) but paired with the scythe I think it will not be long now.  Or one can hope, because this theme continues to haunt me.  And then of course it’s possible that it’s all I see and I have developed tunnel vision?
There is no person card (unless we consider the fox) in this case and the book is turned away from the other cards.  So will the secret be revealed?  The coffin and the scythe make me think so… the coffin can be an ending as can the scythe.  The scythe also is representative of danger.  What is of great interest to me here is the Tree which is central – the tree generally is about health (or lack of) and it can also mean a long time… something that has been going on for a long time will come to a swift and sudden end, and it appears to have been a long term deception (fox)…
Because I am curious as to whether I am on or off here, I will try a different deck.  These are the Gypsy cards, and these were my original passion before I was introduced to the lenormand.
Sweetheart, Sadness, Letter, Falseness, Hope

Sweetheart, Sadness, Letter, Falseness, Hope

If I just read this across, I will be saddened by a message about lies and deception, yet I will be left with hope.  The Sweetheart is looking ahead and all the other cards face her direction, so all the energy comes to me.  It doesn’t appear that I will go to it.  I might even be sad before the message comes, and the message gives me hope.  The lady in the sadness card holds a single rose, while in hope the lady scatters three flowers, and then I noticed the direction of the sails of the ship.  The wind is blowing in the direction of the other four cards, and it seems as if one of the flowers from Hope has blown to the sitting lady in sadness.  Perhaps the message comes from far away?  The ship in the Hope card makes me think so as well.
I also believe it’s interesting to note that all of the windows and doors of the houses in the falsness card are open.  Was this deception truly well hidden, or did people choose to look away from it as the lady in sadness does?  The ladder suggests that there was an easy exit available from this situation, but the party (or parties) involved decided to give in to a more base urge and wrestle with the snake.
Very frustraiting indeed.  I supposed I will have to wait for the message to descend from the clouds…  Because I was extra curious I looked at the top and bottom cards on the deck – the top card was the judge, the bottom the enemy.  So perhaps I will be hopeful because an enemy’s deception will be exposed, and a judgment will be made in my favor….

This is very interesting…

The Rider - The Ring - The Scythe - The Snake - The Tower

The Rider - The Ring - The Scythe - The Snake - The Tower

It looks rather sordid, no?

A message (rider) about a contract (ring) that is to be severed (scythe) due to a woman/confusion (snake) leads to seperation (tower)?  One also has to bear in mind that the rider can be representative of a man who would probably be athletic.  The Tower can also represent independance (as the tower stands alone) or possibly authority.  Perhaps a woman in authority will be resposible?

So we could have an independant and athletic man (tower+rider) who has an agreement with a woman in authority (ring+snake+tower) that is about to be abruptly terminated.  Hmmm… so I will go “textbook” (this is based on the very wonderful Treppner course that I was made aware of by the very talented Ms. Chanah).
Rider+Ring = proposal of marriage/contract
Ring+Scythe = relationship in danger, threatening breakup
Scythe+Snake = Danger for a woman (self inflicted by an intrigue)/a surgery
Snake+Tower = A business woman, an independant woman.

Eww.  The rider with the tower could be a message from someone in authority with the ring/snake being a woman in partnership.  I have to say that unless I am missing something, this is quite ugly.  I also should add that while this deck is very pretty (it is the Art Deco or Liberty oracle) this is the second time it’s given me a strange read.  So (because I must beat things to death) I asked for clarification.  Here was my second draw:

The Lady - The Lily - The Key - The Clover - The Book

The Lady - The Lily - The Key - The Clover - The Book

So the lady+lily means a passionate woman, the lady+book could be an intelligent woman and/or a woman not know to me.  The lily and key = assistance from a third (male) person (king of spades), the lily and the clover luck brought by the man?  The key and clover is certain good fortune with the clover and book as the only two I don’t get in this context.

I discussed this with my husband and he mentioned there was some gossip at his job about the woman who is for the most part in charge,  Apparently she is having some marital issues.  Her name (which I also found funny) could be associated with the clover.  Hmmm…..

Well, I haven’t blogged in a while.  Truth is that I have been somewhat in a funk over my husband’s vanishing job opportunities.  I keep getting the message that is will happen and not too far down the road, so I have decided it’s time for me to let it go now.  Sayings like “a watched pot never boils” and “everything happens for a reason” come to mind, lol.

So I also decided today that I would do a five card draw.  It’s what I have been doing anyway, and I have been trying to examine it using Chanah’s (of Confessions of a Freaky Fortune Teller) line of nine method.  So today I drew the following (I used the White Owl for this draw):

Scythe – Flowers – Stars – Coffin - Key

So it could be a dangerous surprise or a sudden surprise (Scythe + Flowers).  This is something that would happen quickly (scythe+key).  The flowers with the stars could be a positive or happy new start.  The flowers could also mean a pleasant woman.  Flowers with the coffin could be a cancelled invitation or unpleasant happening.  Next the stars and coffin – seeing a change clearly (that’s a laugh being I am so scattered at the moment).  The coffin with the key – transformation will be the turning point perhaps for things to improve.  Apparently it could also mean a small accident.

I’m not getting the message at the moment, although as I had thought immediately following the reading, I did unhappily have to cancel my visit with my new friend due to the timing which was what I felt the scythe/flowers and coffin/flowers could mean.  We’ll see how the rest goes….
